The Transactions page provides detailed visibility into all x402 protocol payment flows, including challenge-response cycles, settlement events, and usage tracking.

Transaction Overview

The x402 Transactions page displays all payment protocol interactions between your agents and paid APIs.

What are x402 Transactions?

x402 is an HTTP status code and payment protocol for pay-per-use APIs:
  • Challenge - API requests payment for access
  • Response - Agent provides payment proof
  • Settlement - Transaction completes and records usage
Each entry in the transactions table represents one complete x402 payment flow.

Viewing Transaction History

The main transactions table displays all transaction records with comprehensive details.

Transaction Statuses

Each transaction progresses through different states in the x402 lifecycle.

Status Types

Completed (Green Badge)
  • Payment successfully processed
  • API request was fulfilled
  • Credits deducted from account
  • Final state for successful transactions
Pending (Gray Badge)
  • Payment in progress
  • Awaiting blockchain confirmation
  • Challenge issued but not yet settled
  • May transition to completed or failed
Failed (Red Badge)
  • Payment unsuccessful
  • API request was not fulfilled
  • Credits not deducted
  • Possible reasons:
    • Insufficient balance
    • Network error
    • Invalid payment proof
    • Timeout
Challenged (Yellow Badge)
  • Server issued payment request
  • Agent has not yet responded
  • Awaiting payment proof
  • Will timeout if no response

x402 Transaction Details

Understanding the payment flow for each transaction.

Transaction Lifecycle

  1. Agent Makes Request
    • Agent calls paid API endpoint
    • Request includes no payment initially
  2. Server Issues Challenge
    • API responds with 402 Payment Required
    • Includes payment details (amount, address)
    • Transaction status: challenged
  3. Agent Provides Payment
    • Agent wallet signs payment transaction
    • Submits payment proof to server
    • Transaction status: pending
  4. Server Validates Payment
    • Verifies payment on blockchain
    • Confirms amount and recipient
    • Checks signature validity
  5. Transaction Settles
    • Payment accepted
    • API request fulfilled
    • Transaction status: completed
    • Usage event recorded

Challenge-Response Flow

The ActumX SDK handles the entire challenge-response flow automatically. Your agent code doesn’t need to manually process 402 responses.

Usage Events

Detailed billing records for each settled transaction.

What are Usage Events?

Usage events are created when x402 transactions complete successfully:
  • Record of API consumption
  • Billing line item
  • Cost breakdown per request
  • Timestamp for audit trail

Viewing Usage Events

Navigate to the Usage page to see detailed usage event data.

Usage Event Details

Event ID
  • Unique identifier for the usage event
  • Format: ue_[random_string]
Endpoint
  • API endpoint that was accessed
  • HTTP method and path
Cost
  • Amount charged for this request
  • Formatted as currency
  • Deducted from account credits
Time
  • When the usage event was recorded
  • Corresponds to transaction settlement time

Usage Events Table Example

Event Endpoint Cost Time
ue_1234567890 POST /v1/agents $0.10 Jan 15, 2:30 PM
ue_0987654321 GET /v1/transactions $0.05 Jan 15, 2:28 PM
ue_abcdef12345 POST /v1/api-keys $0.03 Jan 15, 2:25 PM
Filtering and search features are planned for future releases. Currently, transactions are displayed in reverse chronological order (newest first).

Planned Features

  • Filter by status (completed, pending, failed)
  • Filter by date range
  • Search by transaction ID
  • Filter by endpoint
  • Filter by agent
  • Export to CSV

Transaction Monitoring

Real-Time Updates

The transactions page shows the current state of all payments:
  • Refresh the page to see latest transactions
  • Status updates automatically as transactions progress
  • New transactions appear at the top of the list

Monitoring Best Practices

Track Agent Activity
  • Review transactions regularly
  • Watch for unusual patterns
  • Monitor pending transactions
  • Investigate failed transactions
  • Track spending per endpoint

Common Monitoring Tasks

  1. Check Recent Activity
    • View latest transactions to confirm agent operations
    • Verify expected API calls are occurring
  2. Identify Issues
    • Look for failed transactions
    • Check for stuck pending transactions
    • Monitor error patterns
  3. Cost Analysis
    • Review amounts per endpoint
    • Calculate total spending
    • Identify expensive operations
  4. Audit Trail
    • Maintain record of all payments
    • Track transaction timestamps
    • Verify billing accuracy

Understanding Costs

Per-Request Pricing

Each API endpoint has its own pricing:
  • Prices shown in the Amount column
  • Charged per successful request
  • Failed transactions incur no cost

Cost Breakdown

Total costs come from:
  1. API Request Fees - Per-endpoint charges
  2. Blockchain Gas Fees - Transaction costs (if applicable)
  3. Platform Fees - ActumX service fees (if applicable)

Optimizing Costs

  • Cache responses when possible
  • Batch operations where supported
  • Use appropriate endpoints (don’t over-fetch data)
  • Monitor usage patterns to identify optimization opportunities

Troubleshooting

Pending Transactions Stuck

Possible causes:
  • Blockchain confirmation delay
  • Network congestion
  • Payment verification in progress
Solutions:
  1. Wait 1-2 minutes for normal processing
  2. Refresh the page to check status
  3. Check Solana network status
  4. Contact support if stuck longer than 5 minutes

Failed Transactions

Common reasons:
  • Insufficient wallet balance
  • Invalid payment signature
  • Network timeout
  • API endpoint error
Solutions:
  1. Check Balance - Ensure agent wallet has sufficient SOL
  2. Fund Wallet - Add funds via Dashboard
  3. Retry Request - Agent should automatically retry
  4. Check Logs - Review application logs for errors

Transaction Not Appearing

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Check if request reached the API (check application logs)
  3. Verify agent is configured correctly
  4. Ensure API endpoint requires payment (uses x402)

Amount Discrepancy

  1. Compare Amount to expected endpoint pricing
  2. Check if pricing has changed
  3. Verify transaction ID matches usage event
  4. Contact support with transaction ID if amount is incorrect

Transaction Data Retention

All transaction history is retained indefinitely:
  • Complete audit trail available
  • No automatic deletion
  • Historical data for compliance and analysis

Security and Privacy

Transaction Security

  • All payment proofs are cryptographically signed
  • Blockchain verification ensures payment authenticity
  • Cannot be replayed or forged

Data Access

  • Only you can view your transactions
  • API keys provide access to transaction data
  • Secure HTTPS connections only
